At midnight on December 4th, team and player registration ends, tournament rosters are finalized, and players and captains prepare for “Live Play.”

Scorecard (400x225)“Live Play” begins on December 7th.  For 6 days (December 7 to 12), from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM, thousands of social media posts will be sent out to: 1) raise awareness of the event, 2) introduce the world to the awesome causes of Quakerdale and its partnering ministries, and 3) invite people to get involved personally with these charities by subscribing to a newsletter and/or making a financial gift. During live play, people can sign up to be a team guest, subscribe to newsletters, and increase their financial gifts. All of this goes toward determining team tournament champions, and gold, silver, or bronze certificate winners. (See December 7th post for details.)

Hole #1

What are Players and Guests and What is Expected of Them?

Share This:

Newsletter (Thumb)There are two ways to participate as a team member, one as a Player and the other as a Guest.

Player (Thumb)
Player

A Player has received a personal invitation from the team captain or another player to become a fellow player. Having accepted that invite, they have agreed to:

  1. Use their personal network to help recruit additional team players by inviting people they know  to join them as a fellow player. A template is provided by the team captain so that all the player needs to do is supply the email address and a personal salutation (Dan, or Dear Dan, etc.) Player registration opens at 8:00 AM on November 16th and closes at 5:00 PM on December 4th (all times are central time zone).
  2. Use their social media accounts during tournament play to:
    • Spread the word about the Quakerdale Winter Classic ProAM,
    • Spread the word about their team charity/ministry,
    • Encourage others to subscribe to the tournament and/or team charity newsletters, and
    • Invite others to donate $10 or more to the team charity as their guest,

… all by simply sharing the daily posts made on their team captain’s social media accounts from December 7 – 12.

What are those?

Share This:

Well, they are tops of the septic tanks that we have installed at each of our cottages at the New Providence campus.  What do these do?  This is the way to get to the tank that holds all of the waste.  It is a messy job these tanks have to do.  What is on the surface is very small, but what is underneath is large and messy.

IMG_1773

This is similar to the people we serve here at Quakerdale.  We get the opportunity to serve and care for many people who have a lot of things that have gone wrong in their lives.  It is a messy business caring for people.  What we, who work at Quakerdale have done, is made the choice to jump into the tank of people’s lives.  This work is one of the noblest callings I have seen.  God calls us all to different things in life. We should always listen to what He wants as we seek to follow Him.  The desire to jump into the tank of another’s mess is one worthy of honor.  Have you ever thought that you want more out of life?  Have you ever thought that your job doesn’t have eternal impact and you want it to? Look around your area and find a place that is worthy of your time that wants to help people.

On a side note, I don’t believe just the clients at Quakerdale facilities have messy tanks.  I think we know that we all have a mess under the surface of our tank.  If we truly want to grow allow someone into your tank who you believe is trustworthy and will help you follow God while He starts the work of cleaning it up.
