Lennox/Quakerdale Pro-Am Golf Tournament Raises $95,000

(New Providence, Iowa) – The 2015 Lennox/Quakerdale Pro-Am Golf Tournament was successful in raising $95,000 for Quakerdale and its ministries.  The Pro-Am was held Thursday, June 18 at the Elmwood Country Club in Marshalltown, Iowa.  This year’s tournament celebrity professional was Senior PGA golfer Tom Pernice, Jr.  Other local celebrities included:

  • Andy Garman, Sports Director of KCCI-TV
  • Dr. Tom Davis, former University of Iowa and Drake University retired head basketball coach
  • Bobby Hansen, University of Iowa Radio Network Analyst
  • Gary Thompson, Iowa State University star athlete in both basketball and baseball, and 34-year career NBC and CBS color commentator for college basketball, retiring in 2006

  • Doug Young, Executive Vice President, President/COO of Lennox Residential
  • Gary Bedard, Vice President and General Manager, Lennox Residential

  • Mike Hart, Vice President, Residential Sales
  • John Whinery, Vice President, Product Management
  • William (Bill) Carlson, Director, National Accounts
  • Angela Chapoy, Director of Regional Sales
  • Amanda Widell, Director, Technical Support, Residential
  • John Ernat, Director North American Distribution
  • And of course … Mr. Bob Tibbitts – better known as Dave Lennox

The golf tournament was attended by more than 20 Lennox dealers and suppliers as well.

The event kicked off with Tom Pernice, Jr. holding a clinic focusing on a player’s short game.  27 teams participated is this year’s event. Each team was made up of one Iowa Club Professional and four amateurs. The winning team, lead by Elmwood Country Club professional, Mark Rohde, shot a 57.  Amateur golfers included Mike Fosdick, Lucas Johnson, Kendel Richlen, and Donna Lawler.

  • 12th place, with a score of 70: Greg Dingel from Veenker Memorial Golf Course, Chris Black from Hickory Grove Golf Course, and Bob Moreland from Ottumwa Country Club
  • 11th place, with a score of 69: Chad Proehl from Sugar Creek Municipal Golf Course
  • 7th place, with a score of 68: Ryan McLintock from Davenport Country Club, Mark Atchison from Coldwater Golf Links, Mark Rohde from Elmwood Country Club, and Jeff Smith from Harvest Point Golf Course & Edmundson Golf Course
  • 4th place, with a score of 67: Chuck Moran from American Legion Golf Course, Curt Schnell from Brooks National Golf Club, and Tracy Vest from Des Moines Golf and Country Club
  • 1st place, with a score of 66: Darin Fisher from the Preserve on Rathbun Lake, Sean McCarty from Brown Deer Golf Club, and Brady Schnell from Web.com Tour


A banquet was held after the tournament to end the day.  During the banquet, guests were able to hear a Quakerdale success story.  Teisha Hazelwood is a former resident of Van Orman Cottage, run by Quakerdale in the 1980’s, and she shared her struggles and how Quakerdale was able to help her.  She also spoke about how her time at Quakerdale is now influencing her children’s lives.

Lennox has hosted this event for 28 years, and over that time, has raised more than $1,673,000 for Quakerdale.  Next year’s tournament will be held at Elmwood Country Club in Marshalltown, Iowa on Thursday, June 16, 2016.
